GENDER JOY: PROM
We’ve teamed up with Harry Rosen to offer custom suits to 5 transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse youth in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for their 2024 prom.
How did Gender Joy Prom
come to be?
In 2023, our amazing friend Harrison Browne approached us with a generous offer: he wanted to donate his tuxedo to a student in need for prom. This sparked a huge response on our social media, highlighting a clear demand for initiatives that provide access to suits for trans and gender diverse folks.
2024 PROM
This 2024, we partnered with Harry Rosen to give seven 2SLGBTQ+ high school students the opportunity to receive custom-tailored suits that reflected their unique style for prom. Here is how it went:
On Day 1, we had members of the Get REAL community, and the Harry Rosen team meet these students for their first fittings. Together, our teams ensured that these youth had a warm welcome to calm their first-fitting nerves, and we were even able to welcome a few caregivers, who came in to support their children through this process!
On Day 2, we gathered again for the final fitting with the Harry Rosen team, and the students were eager to see their new custom suits! The Harry Rosen team built a supportive and encourage environment to ensure this prom experience was the best it could possibly be!
