GENDER JOY GEAR PROGRAM
The Get REAL Movement’s Gender Joy Gear Program helps trans, non-binary, and gender diverse youth access gender affirming gear and educational resources.
What is Gender Joy Gear?
At Get REAL, we know each person’s identity and journey is completely their own. We want this program to reflect that uniqueness so we consider gender joy gear to be anything that helps affirm gender identity and achieve gender euphoria. This includes gaffs, binders, packers, breastforms, bras, transtape, STPs, and more!
We believe that affirming gear also acts as harm reduction. Trans, non-binary, and gender diverse youth are at significant risk for mental health complications including risk of suicide.
Affirming gear can help reduce dysphoria and is invaluable at helping reduce dysphoria-related stress.
Our intention is to provide a healthy, safe, and private option at no cost for youth in an effort to support self-determination and reduce common financial and/or social barriers.
The gear we provide is always BRAND NEW, delivered to you DISCREETLY, accompanied with wear and care INSTRUCTIONS, and from a TRANS owned business.
The Gender Joy Gear Program runs quarterly and allocates $120 to twenty-five (25) youth per quarter, which can usually provide 1-3 items depending on what is being requested.
Thank you to UrBasics who has made it possible to support three (3) additional youth every quarter!
